Legal Aid
SI Legal Services has been awarded a legal aid contract and can provide free assistance to individuals who qualify under this scheme. Legal Aid is available in the areas of Asylum law including Fresh Claims and for Domestic Violence applications and includes representation at court at all levels. Our solicitors will be happy to complete an assessment with you to determine whether you qualify for legal aid.
Timescales
All applications to the UKVI should be determined within 6 – 12 months of submission. Where this is not followed pre-action protocol submissions can be sent to obtain a timescale for when a decision will be made.
Asylum applications typically take 1 – 2 years for a decision to be received due to the process. Again pre-action protocol submissions can be made where the delay is unreasonable and 1 year has passed.
